House of the Rising Sun

I stayed at the House of the Rising Sun for a little over a month, and found it to be the perfect home base for my digital nomad adventure in Madeira. The unit is a standalone detached home with two floors. Every appliance one could possibly need - washer, dishwasher microwave, toaster, coffee maker etc. - made for a convenient and comfortable stay. The Internet is reliable; and well suited for video calls. Luis was a responsive, thorough, and friendly landlord.

Vecindario
The house is on 5 Outubro, which is a main street that divides Funchal's East and West sides. While there isn't a huge amount to do in the immediate vicinity, downtown is only a 20min walk away. The vast majority of Funchal's restaurants, shopping, and attractions are within a 30min walk. Walking toward downtown is easy because it's downhill; walking back up is a bit of a hike. Fortunately, several bus routes are available in both directions.

Lugares cercanos recomendados
For coworking, I highly recommend the Nini Andrade Silva design center. For the best Indian food on the island, I recommend Yarsagumba (near the cable car terminal).
